Thursday 25th August was the day some of our young musicians found out their GCSE results and they chose to celebrate their achievements with our hosts, Adrian and Bridget Thornton-Berry and the team at Berry's Farmshop and Cafe.
Guests enjoyed an evening of fine food and music under the cover of the Court Yard raising funds to support music and performing arts activities for young people in Wensleydale and Swaledale. Despite the weather, it was the perfect setting for a Summer's evening of music performed by talented young, and not so young, musicians from the local area. Over 60 friends and supporters thoroughly enjoyed being entertained by 25 musicians during the course of the event.
"We had a fabulous evening and are so fortunate to have such talented young people all around us in the Dale." said Bridget "We are delighted to be supporting the work that Colin, and his volunteers, do to provide opportunities for music-making."
As well as a raffle there was an auction of a framed paper craft picture donated by Sian Lawton of Deesis Designs which raised £60. Any future commissions will see 10% of the sale donated to the BlueBoxt. Find out more here.
So far £600 has been raised and we hope to see this reach our target of £1,000. If you would like to donate you can do so by calling in to Berry's Farmshop and Cafe. There are collection tins near the pay points in the cafe and shop or by Donating via our website.
We would like to say a huge thanks to all the volunteers and musicians who took part to make the event a huge success. We are sure there will be more events in the future.
