Join community musicians Colin Bailey and Julie Simpson for a fun-filled three hours of creative music-making. Sessions are aimed at primary school aged children (six to eleven years old) and explore sound, rhythm, percussion and popular song. [Sessions are suitable for families to take part together; younger children must be supervised by a responsible adult]. Activities include…

Bucket Beats
discover and share your rhythm using just a bucket and percussion sounds.

Boom Tunes
test your skills and play along with our fun tuned percussion instruments.

pick a rhythm, add some lyrics, mix it all together and see what you’ve got.

Get Musical Jam Band
choose your part as we learn a popular song to perform during and at the end of the session. If you play an instrument there is an opportunity to play along, sing or add percussion as part of the band.

Sessions run from 10.00am till 1.00pm
with breaks (squash, fruit and biscuits will be available).
There is a small charge of £5.00 per child (booking fee may apply).

Get Musical is part of the NYMAZ Youth Music Programme for North Yorkshire. NYMAZ provides high quality music-making activities for young people who might not otherwise have the opportunity. NYMAZ is funded by the National Foundation for Youth Music. [] These Workshops have also received funding from The Roger Stott Community Fund and The Elmtree Trust.

Get Musical Jam Band Coming Spring 2017

This image is a flashback to 2011 when Simon, Ethan, Harry and Simon formed their band HESH. Jump forward to 2016/17 and they are learning to drive, studying A-levels and in employment but music is still plays a huge part in their lives.

We are excited to announce we have been awarded funding by the Roger Stott Community Fund and The Elmtree Trust, (towards instruments), so we can provide additional NYMAZ sessions to support more budding young musicians with an opportunity to make-music. We look forward to sharing details of the sessions and the end results. Contact us to register your child's interest. Some playing and basic chord is desired but not essential. We will have fund learning together along the way.
